Fireworks and Cassava Cake

Just like Americans during the Fourth of July, we Filipinos are big on fireworks display in welcoming the New Year.  We make every effort to welcome the new year as noisy as possible to drive away evil and make the new year bountiful.

Since we were already in Bulacan, we stopped by in Bocaue, a town known for its various types of fireworks, and bought some both for our consumption and to sell to the neighbors.

Fireworks!

While everyone was busy buying fireworks, my Dad decided to take a walk and look for something to eat.  He came back with two boxes of these freshly baked cassava cake. The best cassava cake I have ever tasted! I wish we bought more.

I will no longer be in the Philippines on New Year’s Eve. I will be welcoming 2015 with Tashi and my two boy bunnies in America. However, I’d still be around through Skype to join my family and their friends and neighbors welcome 2015 with an awesome display of fireworks!
