The River Market is one of my favorite spots here in Kansas City and it’s always a joy to me to go there even when I do not have to buy anything. But, of course I never go home empty-handed whenever I end up going there. Just like today, I went home with a bagful of fresh herbs – cilantro, parsley, basil and mint. Everything there is so cheap!
Aside from the cheap prices of a wide variety of fresh produce, I also like the city market’s friendly atmosphere. Even though it can get crowded, especially on Saturdays, it is still a good place to relax (at least for me) – just to wander around and enjoy watching the crowd pass by. It also has a bustling coffeehouse to meet up with friends and good street musicians who entertain shoppers .
The City Market is also home to the Arabia Steamboat Museum, which I have yet to visit so that will be on another post.
In the meantime, enjoy Kansas City at its finest. Visit the historical and culturally-rich Kansas City River Market.
