Happy Thanksgiving Day, Everybody! Today, millions of Americans all over the world are celebrating Thanksgiving Day, one of the most celebrated holidays in the United States.
For the first time in eight years, Tashi and I are having thanksgiving dinner in our house. We always had it in his parents’ house even after Mommy Barbara passed away in 2009. Mommy Barbara always made every holiday special and festive for the family. Tashi told me that she would stay up all night to prepare all the food for everyone (her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren) to enjoy. Daddy Joe helps her prepare the beef brisket (my favorite) and barbeque.
Since I am not accustomed to fixing turkey and I didn’t wanna bother giving it a try (maybe some other time) I decided to order rotisserie turkey breast from Price Chopper. I had it a couple of times so I know it tastes good.

So this morning, I got up at 8:30am to fix my side dishes: green bean casserole, mashed potato, creamy creamcheese corn and mac and cheese. It only took me an hour and a half to fix everything. At 10:15am, Tashi and I left the house to pick up the rotisserie turkey and on the way home we called Daddy Joe to ask him of his plans for the day. He’s not the very social type so I was really glad when he promised he’ll drop by in our house and celebrate with us.
I had our dinner ready at a little past 12nn. Tashi said it was a hearty meal. I’m glad!

Daddy Joe joined us an hour later. He said he was too full to eat. Shirley, his eldest daughter , and a church friend of his brought him thanksgiving dinner. While he was here, we reminisced good old times when Mom was still alive. We also called a few relatives and wished them a wonderful holiday.

Every Thanksgiving Day, I always thank God for the family He gave me. Aside from my family in the Philippines, I am blessed with a second family here in America. Thanksgiving Day reminds me of the prayer I uttered in the plane while it was getting ready to take off. I asked God to give me good people. He did.
May you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday!

I’ve always wanted to experience the real thanksgiving day. Haha! Though my boss would normally bring in lots of food in our office during this day, I’, still curious on how it feels during thanksgiving.

It feels like Christmas, Ness. It’s more like a family gathering all the time and it serves as a reunion for most people here 🙂

We did not celebrate thanks giving last night, We did not expect any visitors so I just cooked regular food ,meat loaf, my 4 years old son even praised it.He said” mommy, this is the best meat loaf in the whole world”, lol. My in laws are far away, they live in different states. Probably next year will be a better one. Thanks for visiting on my site. Bait naman ng mga in laws mo.
