Vacation Time

When I was planning my two week vacation in the Philippines to celebrate my Dad’s birthday, I asked him what he wanted to do and where he wanted to go. I was glad to know that he wanted to go to Bicol because after the too many unpleasant and congested traffic experiences I had last Dec 2014, I told everyone the next time I visit them I will only stay in Manila for two to three days. I was glad everyone was on board with me on this. They too wanted to escape the busy Manila and unwind in Bicol.

So after spending two days in Manila to take care of some business and spend time with my bestfriend and her family, we left for Bicol. This trip was special because my nieces Urielle and Chinirah joined us. They are also in the Philippines for vacation.  They got here a few days ahead of me. Unbeknownst to me, they scheduled their vacation to coincide with mine. I was totally surprised since Urielle just spent two weeks with us in Kansas City last June/July.

We had our first stop over in Atimonan, Quezon.  Perfect spot to stretch our legs and watch the beautiful sunrise while sipping a cup of freshly brewed coffee.

My cousin’s house in the middle of the rice fields. This will be our home for the next four days.
I already feel refreshed just by looking at this beautiful scenery.

It took us longer to get to our final destination. Everyone can’t wait to get off the jeep.  The breeze is so refreshing.  I could smell the sweet aroma of the rice fields. My Aunt told us the rice is almost ready for harvest.

As we unload our suitcases, I caught a glimpse of Nina with her arms wide open facing the beautiful landscape in front of her.  I can’t blame her.

Bicol. I am glad to be back.
